Marilyn Francis Johnson, a proud Chehalis Tribal member, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, in Centralia, Washington, at the age of 78.
Marilyn was born on the Chehalis Reservation in Oakville, Washington, where she also attended Oakville School. On July 3, 1987, she married the love of her life, Allen Johnson, in Centralia, and they spent many happy years together surrounded by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Marilyn dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked for many years as a housekeeper and caregiver, and was well known for providing childcare to countless families in the community. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and unconditional love.
She adored shopping, spending time with her family, and doting on her beloved dog, Kai. Marilyn found joy in life's simple moments, especially those shared with her husband Allen, her children, and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her son Douglas Eugene Jones; her parents Jack and Gladys (Beckwith) Brown; and her siblings Kenneth Brown, Don Brown, Alfred Brown, and Norma Brown.
She is survived by her devoted husband Allen Johnson; her children Darrin Jones Sr. (Cheryle), Elisa Sanders (Mike), and Mackenzie Jones; her siblings Tiny Jones, Bev Bishop, and Betty Fulton; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Marilyn leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, strength, and family. Her unwavering devotion to those she cared for will continue to live on through the generations she helped raise.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 6th at 10:00 AM at the Chehalis Tribe Community Center in Oakville, WA, followed by a graveside service at Grand Mound Cemetery at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow at the Community Center.
Marilyn’s spirit, kindness, and love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
