Marjorie M. (Marge) Foydl was born in Duluth, Minnesota on March 21, 1924, to Alexander B. Payer and Marie Della (LaJoie) Payer. She passed away peacefully on March 10, 2022, in Chehalis, Washington at the age of 97.
On March 22, 1944, at the age of 20, Marge enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and served until April 12, 1946, when she was discharged as Yeoman Third Class.
She met the love of her life, Anton J. (Tony) Foydl, Jr., and they were married on March 9, 1949, in Duluth, Minnesota. Tony served in the U.S. Coast Guard, and they were stationed in several different locations, including Honolulu, Hawaii. They fell in love with Hawaii and decided to make it their forever home. While Tony served in the Coast Guard, Marge pursued her own successful office career ending as a personnel manager at the Bishop Insurance Company in Honolulu. Tony retired on June 1, 1961, and they continued to enjoy their life in Honolulu. After Tony passed away on April 16, 1993, Marge stayed in Honolulu.
Marge was kind, loving, generous and independent and was always up for new adventures and challenges. She loved to travel and was able to take several trips abroad seeing places like Sweden, Russia and South America.
In 2013, at the age of 89, Marge decided to move to Chehalis, Washington, to be near her niece, Pam Garrett and her husband Chuck. It didn’t take long for Marge to make many new friends in Chehalis. She was famous for her banana muffins, which she generously shared with neighbors and friends.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband Tony; two sisters Roberta Swanstrom and Laverne Olseth; and two nieces Della Miller and Patricia Obidowicz.
She is survived by five nieces Carole Powers (Michael), Roberta Hedrick (John), Mary Ann Langguth (Warren), Pamela Garrett (Chuck) and Camille Garvey; three nephews Thomas Olseth (Mary), Douglas Swanstrom (Vi) and Alan Swanstrom (Helen); 10 great-nephews; and four great-nieces.

The family would also like to thank the staff at Sticklin Funeral Chapel in Centralia, Washington, for making the final arrangements to send Marge’s ashes to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, where she will be interred in the same niche as her beloved Tony.
