

Merlin Dee Young, was born April 7, 1937, in Preston, Idaho, to Lorenzo and Ruth (Reeder) Young. He passed away Friday, February 28, 2020, at the age of 82, at his home in Chehalis, Washington. He married Linda Reiter, in Seattle, Wash. December 22, 1984. Merlin was a lifelong trucker for 50 years, and loved trucking. In 2008, he even received a “Driver Safety Award” from the state of Washington.
Merlin loved the outdoors and gardening. He especially loved mowing the lawn on his tractor. Merlin also enjoyed wiener roasts and campfires with his family. He even played some croquet with his family.
Merlin was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Lyle Young, and his son, Wade Young.
He is remembered by his loving wife, Linda Young, his children, Margo O’Connor, Debra (Bob) Vollmer, Alan Young, Elaina (Dewey) Price, Christy (Bill) Craver, Scott Reiter, Rick (Kinda) Reiter, his sisters, Millie (Dick) Brunson and Linda (Jim) Myers, his 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild.
A visitation will be held at Sticklin Funeral Chapel on Thursday, March 5th from 3PM until 7PM. A celebration of life will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Chehalis, Washington, on Friday, March 6th at 11AM with a light lunch following.
Merlin will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
