I grew up with Mike and his brother Myron in our small town and consider myself very fortunate to be called  a friend.  I have many fond memories of ordinary things and what were at the time great adventures for kids growing up together.  I will forever treasure those times and my friends.

Since the service I have been trying to figure out how to sum up my memories of Mike in a few words and I honestly don't think I can possibly do him justice.  I remember a young man who was driven in whatever he was doing, determined to live life as big as he could, and was the kind of person who cared unselfishly for people around him enough to give them the shirt off his back. He also had this ability of making things just work that were mechanical, even when you knew the odds were against him. 

When we graduated high school a group of us did a long multiple day and night hike up the coast line of the Olympic Peninsula. Mike of course was part of the group and I can still see him way out in front of the rest of us making tracks down that beach and usually having the campfire going by the time we got to the next stopping point.  I don't think we were ever able to get him to slow down.  That was Mike.

I had a chance meeting with Mike I believe at the time he was a reserve officer. I remember him talking about his desires to possibly join the state patrol. I thought at the time how impressed I was that he didn't have any hesitations about putting in the amount of work a dream like that would involve. But looking back that was Mike.  He was a determined person, full of passion for life and I admired him for that.

I would just like to say thank you to Tami, and your family, and Lisa as well, for sharing with us all the story of Mike's life and filling in all the missing years. You were all incredible to be able to put together so many memories at this time when you are hurting so much.   Our hearts go out to you Tami, your family, Mike's mom, his siblings, and their families.  Also to Mike's work family, their reflections on the character of person that Mike was to be around were special to hear.  Once again I was not surprised ..........that was Mike.

I only knew Mike for a short couple of years while working a project for the City of Tacoma. In that short time, I put Mike in the top list of people that I respect.  He was a joy to work with as he displayed a most positive attitudes about work everyday and work he did.  A great mechanic that accomplished a lot everyday.  We need more people like Mike and I will miss him as many other will.  God bless him family and his close friends during their time of healing over such a wonderful person.     

Mike was my big brother Herbs friend. I remember them working on cars with dad and others.He was sweet. I didn't know him that well , sometimes he would stop by my work and say Hi. He was nice. I will miss him. :(   Such a tragedy.

I only had the pleasure of knowing Mike for a short time. He sure knew how to make a new co-worker feel welcome with his goofy waves and huge smiles. He had an inviting personality that made me feel comfortable to talk to him and ask questions. I miss seeing him riding around in the carts frantically waving at me yelling "Mornin!" Rest in peace my friend, you will forever be missed and in my memory.

Mike your smile and kindness will forever be with me, we shared a lot of laughs at the brewery.  Thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time of sadness and always. Rest In Peace my friend

When I had heard about the accident I had no idea it was somebody I knew - I guess you never do. Later that evening my sister told me it was Mike, well it was a very sad moment for me. All the fond memories of Mike from our time in high school came flooding back. Such a easy-going, mellow and utterly dependable friend to so many of us back then. He was always interested in engines and anything mechanical, and was the go-to-guy when you had questions in that regard.
 
Hadn't seen him in years, but the last time I did see him, he told me he was a maintenance mechanic as was I at the time. Certainly, no surprise he ended up in maintenance - he seemed to have a passion for it.

Sincerest sympathies to his family, coworkers and friends.

Mike was a great man. The the news of his sudden death is still hard to grasp. He was someone l took for granted would be around for much longer.  I can still see him smile as he'd walk up and say, "what's up man?" crack a joke and chuckle the way Mike alway did. Im proud and honored, to have known Mike & called him my friend. My heart, thoughts, & prayers go out to his family and other friends.

Mike was a great co-worker and an even better human being! A true gentleman who deserved so much more! Rest in Peace my friend

Oh man....I loved him. He was such a good. Man. I never met you Tami or Myronbut I was in your life because he he talked about you always. God took him from us...he needed a special angel I guess. NOT FAIR!

Great,great memories with mike , a true brother, I will never forget our good times!

He was always so nice to all of us here in Sewer Transmission. He will be missed.

Michael was a great person. He will be missed. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

My thoughts are with you. Myron, Darlene, Rhonda and Darrell. I am sorry I did not get meet Mike.
