Nan Ella Demaree

Nan Ella Demaree, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026, in Centralia, Washington. She was born on June 18, 1951, in Martinsville, Indiana, to Harold Deatline and Wanza C. Deatline (Savage).

Nan earned her high school diploma and went on to build a long and dedicated career as a cable splicer. She retired from Indiana Bell after 30 years of service, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, determination, and dedication.

Nan found joy in the simple things in life and had many hobbies that reflected her creative and adventurous spirit. She enjoyed leatherwork, sewing clothes, macramé, reading, gardening, and canning. She especially loved horseback riding, often sharing those rides with her dogs and friends. Her love of animals, the outdoors, and creating things with her own hands brought her great happiness throughout her life.

Nan was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Wanza Deatline.

She is survived by her three children, Tammy Summers, Mick Ritchie, and Dennis Scott Demaree; her siblings, Steve Deatline, Jean Myers, and Beth Mann; her grandchildren Amanda Wayne, Danielle Lee, Jon-Luc Ritchie, and Connor Summers; and her great-grandchildren Reese Breeden, Brady Lee, Alexander Wayne, Josephine Wayne and Delilah Lee. Her memory and love will live on in their hearts for generations to come.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful nursing staff of Centralia Hospital's Progressive Care Unit and the Comfort Care staff for the compassion, kindness, and care they provided to Nan and her family during her final days.

A celebration of Nan's life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to your local animal shelter in Nan's memory, honoring her love and compassion for animals.

Nan will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
