Patsy Ruth Roof

She was born April 14, 1940 in Los Angeles, California to Wade “Dutch” Martin and Naoma Lucille Leslie Martin.

She was a 40 + year member of Alanon and a member of Chehalis #1550 Fraternal Order of Eagles.

She was an avid crafter with many hobbies. She enjoyed Knitting, crocheting, quilting, sewing, home décor, fashion design and architectural design. She loved to sew and crochet clothes for her kids and grandkids, without a pattern much of the time.

She lived in Newark, California from 1979 – 2002 and completed the Newark Police Departments Citizen Police Academy. She shocked her instructors by hitting the bullseye every time in the shooting range class. She had a multitude of careers after being a homemaker and raising her 5 children. She started in retail fabric sales while taking evening classes for bookkeeping. Bookkeeping was her career for many years and she was employed at Newpark Malls Management office. In 1990, she went to work at 2nd Chance Inc., first as a bookkeeper/receptionist and then later as their Domestic Non-Violence teacher and DUI Offender Registrar. In 2002, she retired from 2nd Chance Inc. in order to relocate to Rochester Washington where she could be nearer to her eldest daughter. All of the remaining children would eventually followed her to Washington.

Patsy is survived by her 5 children, Cheryl Sharer of Rochester, WA, Dale Roof of Oakville, WA, Patrice Roof of Chehalis, WA, Annmarie Leslie of Rochester, WA, and Stephanie Beard of Centralia, WA; her 8 grandchildren, Keith Still, Donovan (Cheyenne) Roof, Jovan (Dallas) Beard, Sabrina Gordon, Danika Beard, David Sharer, Yvette Roof, and Dakota Manchette; and her 4 great-grandchildren, Evie Roof, David, Madison and Keira Gordon.
