Robert “Bob” Sayers was born on June 13, 1933, to Alice Marie (Enyeart) Sayers and Jay Sayers in Ryderwood, WA. He grew up on the family farm and later enlisted in the Navy, where he served during the Korean War.
After his time in the Navy, Bob returned home and began working in the logging industry. It was then that he met the love of his life, Patricia “Pat” June Sherman. They were married on May 25, 1957, and built a life together that would span 64 years of marriage. Together, they made their home on a farm in Ryderwood, where they raised their family.
Later in life, Bob enjoyed traveling across the country with Pat, attending dances at local grange halls, and making special memories with his grandchildren on trips throughout the Northwest. He and Pat also shared a heart for service, volunteering with the Lewis County Senior Center and delivering meals through the Meals on Wheels program.
Bob treasured time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He could often be found playing pool with friends at the senior center, watching westerns, listening to country music, or working on his “eagle” puzzles. His steady presence, sense of humor, and deep enjoyment of being surrounded by those he loved will be dearly missed.
Bob is survived by his sons, Daniel (Sherrie) Sayers, Stephen (Grace) Sayers, and William (Tina) Sayers; his daughter, Susan (John) Franck; and his daughter-in-law, Linda Sayers. He also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren—Tamara, Lauren, Tiffany, Julie, David S., Matthew, William, John (JR), Diana, Alicia, Danielle, Nicholas, Amanda, Melanie, Samuel, Donovan, Devanie, and David F.—along with several great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Jay Sayers and Alice Marie (Enyeart) Sayers; his wife, Patricia June (Sherman) Sayers; his sons, Earl Sayers, John Sayers, and Robert Sayers Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Theresa Sayers; his sister, Patricia Savage; and his brother, Vance Sayers.
The family’s hearts are full of gratitude for Woodland Village Concepts and Assured Hospice of Centralia, whose compassionate care brought comfort, peace, and dignity to Bob in his final days.
