Rocky Layne Bailey, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, in Olympia, Washington, at the age of 73. He was born on July 7, 1953, in Dayton, Washington, to George J. Bailey and Ethel A. Bailey.
Rocky graduated from high school and went on to earn college credits in trade-specific studies. A hard-working and skilled man, he spent much of his career as a logger and was also a certified welder. He took pride in his work and in being able to provide for and care for the people he loved.
In 1980, Rocky married the love of his life, Becky Bailey. Together, they built a life centered around faith, family, hard work, and countless memories. They enjoyed canning together, and Rocky found great joy in the simple things of life.
Rocky had many interests that brought him happiness. He loved gardening and beekeeping, and he especially enjoyed taking his dogs for walks through the woods. But above all, he cherished his family. Some of his happiest moments were spent surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He treasured time with them and leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through the generations.
Rocky was a man of God whose faith was an important part of who he was. He believed that faith and family were the most important things in life, and he lived those values in the way he loved, worked, and cared for others. His strength, faith, kindness, and devotion to his family will be deeply missed.
Rocky was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Becky Bailey; his parents, George J. Bailey and Ethel A. Bailey; his sisters, Fran Werhan and Judilyn Jones; and his brother, Wayne Bailey.
He is survived by his children, Heather Villalba; Hilary (Troy) Brunson; Jesse (Ashley) Bailey; and Holly (Tim) Valentine; along with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were a great source of joy and pride in his life.
Though Rocky is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the family he loved so dearly, in the lessons he taught, in the work of his hands, and in the faith, he held close to his heart.
His family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and reunited with those who went before him, resting in the presence of the God he faithfully believed in.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever remembered.
