Shirley Marlene Short-Dugaw, 86, died Aug. 25th, 2016, at her home in Olympia, Wash. She was born in Seattle, Wash. on October 27, 1929, to proud parents, Carl and Birdie Wootan. Shirley graduated from Foster High School in Tukwila.
She married Kenneth E. Short in 1946; raising two wonderful children, Kenneth and Rebecca. Shirley resided in Packwood, Wash., for 20 years, in Mossyrock for two years, moving to Rochester for an additional 24 years. She moved to Scott Lake after Kenneth’s death and fulfilled a dream by attending Mode Beauty School in Olympia. Once finished with school, she became a hairdresser, a job that she enjoyed for 10 years. She then fulfilled another one of her dreams, helping others for 10 years in her role as a leader with Weight Watchers.
In 1994, she married Jack Dugaw, who passed away in 2001. During her lifetime, she loved fishing, ballroom dancing, traveling, cooking, playing golf, spending time at the Casino and maintaining a beautiful yard.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Kenneth E. Short and Jack E. Dugaw Sr.; and daughter, Rebecca.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth L. (Rosemary) Short of Olympia; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren;
and brother, Carl Wootan.
Those wishing to attend visitation may do so from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at Sticklin Funeral Chapel, 1437 S. Gold Street in Centralia, Wash. Funeral Services will take place Thursday, Sept 8, 2016, at 10 a.m., at the same location, followed by interment at Grand Mound Cemetery in Rochester, Wash.
At Shirley’s request, her family is hosting a Champagne Party in her honor on Sept 8th at 1:00 PM at Shirley's home located at
12539 Champion Dr SW, Olympia, Washington.
