Glenna Jeanne (Brockschmidt) Reeves quietly passed away Monday January 18, 2021. Glenna was born November 17, 1941 in Centralia, Illinois to Isabelle (Starr) and Eugene Brockschmidt. Growing up in the Central Illinois town of Centralia, Glenna had a wonderful childhood surrounding by family and friends. Later to move with her mother (Isabelle) to the St. Louis area and many summer adventures to Camp Chicamaga in Michigan. Glenna married Roy Reeves in 1959 then moving to Louisiana near his family. In 1961 giving birth to the first of two girls – Emily Day (Michael) and later in 1966 the birth of Ruth Ann Carlton (Ronnie). Soon to return to St. Louis, MO area to be closer to her mother (Isabelle) and began working toward her college degree and raising the girls. Around 1971 moving to Farmington, MO and co-managed Campfire Campgrounds where the girls had many fond memories of the great outdoors and experiences of a rural lifestyle. Near 1977 returning to her hometown of Centralia where the girls would complete their education and she began working for the US Postal Service in Centralia and then Carbondale, Illinois and would be the beginning of a fulfilling career. She enjoyed meeting and working so many wonderful friends with the US Postal Service for 20+ years as Injury Compensation Manager in Carbondale, IL and moving to Orlando, Florida. Glenna completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. This became an immensely proud moment for her and the first in the family with a college degree. And eventually she accepted a similar position with the Internal Revenue Service in Richmond, VA for several years before retiring to Arizona with her mother.
Once in Arizona she was able to enjoy one of her lifelong passions – Quilting! and learning to scrapbook as well as keeping up with the Genealogy project she had always wanted to spend time researching the family. Her quilting skills excelled as her creative passion was shared with 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Glenna spent an untold number of hours making several personalized quilts for each of them. She also enjoyed many hours of walks with her longtime companion Jazzy (canine) and photographing the many family events of birthdays, weddings and many holiday gatherings with the family. She was preceded in death by her father Eugene (1969) and mother Isabelle (2012).
Survived by her two daughters: Emily Day (Michael) and Ruth Ann Carlton (Ronnie), 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
