Arthur Michael “Mike/Pop” Robinson, 76, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in hospice care at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, NC, after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born May 30, 1950, to Arthur William “Pete” Robinson and Shirley Moore White and grew up in Blacksburg, SC. He later made his home in Mint Hill, NC, with his late wife, Ann Mullis Robinson.They shared 42 years of marriage.
Mike loved NASCAR and spent his early career working alongside NASCAR driver Lake Speed on Nelson Malloch’s race team. He later owned and operated his own construction and painting business, worked at the campground at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, and eventually became a tech man at Millbridge Speedway, where he continued to pursue his love of racing.
Mike especially loved spending time on the coast with friends and family, where he enjoyed fishing and making memories. But what brought him the most joy was his grandchildren. He loved challenging them every Christmas with a game that drove them nuts, but it brought him so much joy.
Mike is survived by his stepsons, Jarrett (Angela) Huntley, Todd (Crystie) Huntley, and Jason Huntley (Crystal Smith); grandchildren, Travis (Hope) Robinson, Michaela (Logan) Kissinger, Nathan (Alyssa) Huntley, Riley Huntley, Alex Huntley, Tanner Huntley, Greylyn Huntley, Zander Huntley, Peyton Courtney, and Brook Robinson; great-grandchildren, Ellie and Cohen Kissinger and Kaden and Callum Huntley; sons, Bo Robinson and Robbie (Rhonda) Robinson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ann Mullis Robinson.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Golden Acres Baptist Church in Stallings, NC, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Shiloh Truelight Church of Christ in Mint Hill, NC.
