

Her family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 21, at Southside Baptist Church, with her funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. The Reverend Christopher Carlyle will be officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens on Lawyers Road.
Born June 4, 1936 in Lumberton, NC, Ava was the daughter of Dennis and Gertrude Taylor. She was a graduate of Littlefield High School, attended Kings Business College and Mercy School of Nursing in Charlotte. She retired from CMC-Mercy Hospital in Charlotte after 36 years of service. Mrs. Crump was an active member at Southside Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her Joy Class Sunday School members and Senior Citizens group, until her health started to fail. She also enjoyed working with the children in the Nursery.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Lewis; her parents, Dennis and Gertrude Taylor; her sister, Hilda Bryan; and her brother, Julius “Buddy” Taylor.
She is survived by her two daughters, Deborah Carlyle (Chris) of Irvine, KY and Beverly Crump of the home; her two sons, Gerald Crump (Karen) of Charlotte and Scott Crump (Dana) of Monroe; seven grandchildren, Heather Harris (Robert) and Christina Strickland, Joshua and Haley Crump, Zachary, Ethan and Caroline Crump; and three great-grandchildren, Brooklynne, Trinity, and Bella Harris. Also surviving are her sisters, Mattie Bryan of Kure Beach, NC, Betty Blankenship of Cornelius, NC and Sarah Allen (Sammy) of Lumberton, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 301 Elmhurst Road, Charlotte, NC 28209.
