Barbara M Carriker

Barbara was born in Durham, NC to the late George and Minerva McBane. Their family moved to Charlotte where she met the love of her life, Frelon Carriker. They were married for 60 years until the time of his death in 2014. Barbara attended North Mecklenburg High School and worked the majority of her career at Insurance Company of North America which would become CIGNA. After her retirement, she enjoyed having more time to participate in activities at her church, Wilson Grove Baptist. She enjoyed her Sunday School class, working in the kitchen, and most of all, her Craft Ladies Group.

Ms. Carriker is survived by her children, Melva Kirk and husband, Eddie of Durham, NC and Ken Carriker and wife, Melanie of Charlotte, NC, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren; Matthew Kirk, Kevin Kirk and wife LeAnn and their children, Reagan and Lucas; Kendall Carriker and wife, Candise and their daughter, Logan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Pat McBane Kerr.

The Carriker family will receive friends after a graveside service on Monday, June 28th at 11:00am at Sunset Memory Gardens 8901 Lawyers Rd. Mint Hill, NC 28227 with Dr. Wayne Poplin officiating.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family ask that memorials be sent to Novant Health Hospice & Palliative Care.
