Barbara Childress Osborne

Her funeral will be held Noon Saturday, April 14, at Cornerstone Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10am until Noon. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Barbara was born in Bennettsville, SC to Beatrice Perkins Childress and the late Austin Childress. She was a graduate of Bennettsville High School. While in Bennettsville and before moving to Charlotte, Barbara owned The Flower Shop. She retired as financial secretary at East Mecklenburg High School and had worked part-time as secretary at Sharon Baptist Church.

Barbara was a dedicated member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, having served on several committees. Through her God given talents, she made flower arrangements for the church for many years. She loved doing for others in a quiet way and was always striving to learn more about the Bible and applying it to her life.

In addition to her mother, Barbara is survived by her husband, Kenneth, daughters, Dawn Bruce and Natalie Osborne, granddaughter, Savannah Bailey, and sister, Debbie Stewart and her husband, Don, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her brother, J. L. Childress.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church, 8947 Albemarle Road, Charlotte, NC 28227.

Due to the nature of Barbara’s illness, the family encourages everyone to be organ donors.
