Junior was born on August 21, 1957, in Mecklenburg County. He graduated from Harding High School in 1975.
Junior was a devoted husband to Sharon, his high school sweetheart, and their love story spanned 49 wonderful years of marriage. His devotion to her was unyielding and her unwavering care was evident throughout their life together.
Junior's family describes him as kind, funny, and friendly. He possessed a remarkable talent for playing any instrument placed before him, despite not being able to read music. His love for playing and collecting guitars was a lifelong passion, and he played in several bands throughout his life.
Junior cherished his family and his church. He was known for his daily texts to everyone he knew, simply to "check in." He had a fondness for sharing random facts and enjoyed family gatherings where the entire family would sing and rejoice. Junior proudly served his church, First Baptist of Indian Trail, for 42 years.
Junior will be remembered most for his love of music, his ability to make friends with anyone he met, his enthusiasm for watching Auburn football with his oldest daughter, Mandy (aka Pumpkin), discussing good food with his youngest daughter, Susan (aka Half Pint), and forcing Nana into countless hours watching Walker Texas Ranger.
Above all, Junior was immensely proud of his three granddaughters. He would eagerly share stories of their achievements with anyone who would listen.
Hard to describe a man in just a few paragraphs, but Junior's larger-than-life presence will be remembered by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his parents, William Hinson Sr. and Mary Carolyn Hinson, and brother, Charles Hinson.
Junior is survived by his wife Sharon W. Hinson, daughters, Amanda Hinson of Clemmons, NC and Susan Kirk (Stephen) of Tryon, NC; granddaughters, Olivia and Alice Kirk and Ellie Hemmings, sister, Gail Smith(Smitty), sister in law, Elaine Rogers (Marv), and brother in law, Charles Wallace, whom he loved as his own blood; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Junior will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Indian Trail, 732 Indian Trail Fairview Rd, Indian Trail, NC 28079. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am. Burial will be in the First Baptist Church of Indian Trail Cemetery.
