Buel Alton Hunt

Born February 25, 1932, in Finley, Kentucky, Buel was one of nine children born to the late Hulette and Dionas Hunt. He married, Virginia (Betty) Seigler on December 5, 1955, in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Buel was a 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force, having served honorably in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 474 in Augusta, Georgia, until his retirement.

Buel enjoyed spending time with his family, watching University of Kentucky football and basketball, fishing and playing golf.

In addition to his parents, Buel was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister, Sylvia Parrot, Carl Hunt, Shelby Hunt, Coleman Hunt and Terry Hunt.

Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Betty; children, Anthony Hunt and his spouse, Katherine Hunt, of Charlotte, NC, Susan Deas and her spouse, Dr. David Deas, of San Antonio, TX, Lease Hunt and her spouse, Kena McKenzie, of Mint Hill, NC and Marsha Petrin and her spouse, James Petrin, of Mint Hill, NC; eight grandchildren, Dr. Katherine (Katie) McKay, Michael Hunt, Christopher Hunt, Dr. Steven Deas, Andrew Deas, Laura Collette, Erin Kicklighter and Theresa Wellington; and eleven great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Darlene Gilpin, Beverly Duggin and Phyllis Phillips, all of Campbellsville, Kentucky.

Buel will be interred at a later date in Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC, with full military honors in a private ceremony.
