Calvin Dick Richard Cochrane

The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2011 at McEwen – Mint Hill Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2011 at Wilson Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Grant Hoffman and Reverend Bruce Pope officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.

A son of the late Luke and Lelia Noles Cochrane, Dick was born March 27, 1932 in Mecklenburg County, and was a life-long resident of Mint Hill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Gladden and Agnes Arant. Dick retired in 1994 from the Maintenance Department at Westinghouse Steam Turbine Plant. He was a devoted, life-long member of Wilson Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and held many leadership roles through his life. Dick loved his church and helped many members and neighbors with anything they needed. He and Margaret lead by example, and they raised their children to follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Dick is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Margaret Linker Cochrane. A loving father to Mike Cochrane and his wife, Ann, Ronnie Cochrane and his wife, Melissa, Margaret Ann McWhirter and her husband, Roger all of Mint Hill, Kevin Cochrane and his wife, Cindy of Monroe, and Chris Cochrane and his wife, Jeriann, also of Mint Hill. The joy of Dick’s life was welcoming new additions to his family of 12 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren, all of whom he loved to keep and instigated many adventures along with his faithful dog, Jeanie.
