Carl Frederick "Freddie" Short Jr.

Born July 4, 1945 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Freddie was the son of the late Carl and Christine Short. He was a graduate of Garinger High School and retired as an account manager with General Electric after 38 years of service. Freddie had a passion for all sports and classic automobiles. He was a lifelong member of Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Freddie was predeceased in January of 2019 by his wife, Marcia Landes Short.

He is survived by his sister, Jean S. Horne and her husband, David, of Laurel Fork, Virginia; and his beloved four-legged boys, BeBop and Gizmo.

A memorial service to celebrate Freddie’s life will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, February 16, 2020, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. The Reverend Dr. Thomas R. Steagald will officiate. The family will greet guest following the service at the funeral home.
