Carole is survived by her sons, Kenneth Rattie and his wife, Sandra of Matthews, North Carolina John Fanning and his wife, Valerie of Boynton Beach, Florida; five grandchildren, Sonya, her husband, Ken, Amanda, John Tyler, Douglas and his wife, Ashley and Stephen, three great grandsons Liam, Ryan and Douglas Jr.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, James.
Carole had a successful career as a clerical accountant for companies ranging from fine metal refineries to international produce conglomerates.
She was fiercely protective of her family, her independence and, her Dachshunds.
