Carrie Teeter Hyland

Carrie Teeter Hyland of Mooresville, NC received her wings on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at her home with a loving family present. She was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease many years ago. We are grateful for the wonderful care she received from Dr. Andrea Diedrich, Dr. Rebecca Panuski, and many other devoted medical staff including her caregivers Haley Gregory, Becky Carter, and her caring Hospice Team.

Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, Odell and Mamie Hagler Teeter; her loving husband of 58 years, William D. Hyland; and her brother, Howard Teeter.

Carrie is survived by her children, David Hyland (Brenda) and Carol Carman; her grandchildren, Jeremiah Astrach, Joshua Astrach, Jackie Hyland Heath (Brian), Rachel Hyland (Steve), and Natalie Hyland; her great-grandchildren, Kai Hastings, Eden Astrach, Riley Astrach, Savannah Astrach, Ryder Astrach, Kaylee Owens, and Brendon Flemmings; and many other loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Carrie's employment included many different places. The majority of her time was spent at Chadbourn Hosiery Mill, Hickory Grove United Methodist Church Kindergarten, Center for Human Development and Hickory Grove Elementary School.

Carrie was born and raised in the Hickory Grove Community of Charlotte for 75 years. She later moved to Mooresville to be closer to her children.

She was a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church and was involved in many activities there. The Epworth Sunday School Class, The Groovy Grover Square Dance Club, and the famous Hickory Grove Music Maker's Band were just a few.

After moving to Mooresville, she became involved in Fair View United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Adult Sunday School class and participated in other activities such as the Golden Nuggets Club.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, 6401 Hickory Grove Road, Charlotte, NC. A Celebration of Carrie's Life will follow at 12:00 pm.
