Charlie was a good member of Robinson Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. Remember his winning smile. He was a good man.

Charlie and the Corriher Family lived around the corner from the 
Wentz Family.  We lived on Belmont Ave .  We played together our entire childhood.  Charlie and I was drafted into the Army on the same day August-12-1954.  I always looked forward seeing Charlie at the Tech High Lunch Bunch every month.  Howard Wentz

My mother, Betty Navey Abernathy Wagner, was Charlie’s first cousin. After my mother moved to Raleigh to be close to us, Charlie would come and visit. I enjoyed listening to all his stories, especially about the Navey relatives.

Uncle Charlie was a great story teller.   Whether it concerned his time in the Army, his deep knowledge of the Corriher and Navey family histories, or his travels with Carrie all over the United States, it was a pleasure to learn all kinds of things from his life.   We especially enjoyed his story about his high school football injury.  That sounds terrible, but his sister Madeline (My Mother) was at the game and drove Charlie to the local hospital to get patched up.  His leg was broken and needed a cast.   After several attempts and many hours the job was done.    Charlie and Madeline got tired of waiting to be discharged, so they simply checked themselves out and drove home.  Charley was supposed to come back in 6 or 7 weeks, but after about that length of time, his Daddy asked him how his leg was doing.  Charlie said it felt fine.   So PawPaw just reached for his hack saw and got that cast right off of there.  Now that's old school medicine!  We miss you Uncle Charlie.  Rest in Peace.  

We are sorry to hear of Charles passing, I have so many good memories of him and all the visits. Our prayers are with you.

Charlie was a good member of the Adventures at Robinson Presbyterian Church. He was a good attendee when we met either in the Fellowship Hall at the church or in a local restaurant. He was always happy and added to the fellowship of this older group. He will certainly be missed.

We have so many wonderful memories of Charlie who is J.B.s 1st cousin.  We visited in Charlie & Carrie's home many times, often spending the night. They were gracious hosts. After Carrie died Charlie came  and visited us several times. Our neighbor was building a new house. While I was at work & J.B. was busy in the chicken houses Charlie entertained himself by going & checking on the progress of the house. He always bragged on my cooking and seemed to enjoy the meals I cooked.  When we visited him in Charlotte we enjoyed spending time with him. One time after the new fast rail system was installed we took him to ride on it. We rode it downtown to the Nascar Museum. Another time we went to the Billy Graham Center.  He always seemed to enjoy those outings & we did too. He was always so much fun to be with!

My favorite memory is Uncle Charlie sitting with my Mom after our Dad died, talking about people they knew and times they shared.

Dear Cousins Pam and Amy...so sorry to hear of the passing of your wonderful Dad and my Uncle, Charlie.  I loved our family summer visits to Charlotte back in the 60's and to hear the interesting and funny stories your Dad would always tell us.  His sister Madeline, (my mother/your aunt), always enjoyed the visits and talking about their childhood growing up on Caldwell Street.  May he rest in Peace.
