Charles David Frye II

Mr. Frye, 78, of Charlotte, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at McEwen - Mint Hill Chapel. A prayer service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the funeral home chapel with The Reverend Paul Q. Gary officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.

Mr. Frye was born March 27, 1932 in Charlotte, a son of the late Charles David Frye and Lela Neely Frye. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel J. Frye. Mr. Frye was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church. He served his country for five years in the U.S. Army. Mr. Frye was a twenty-seven year veteran of the Charlotte Police Department and had also served with the U.S. Marshall Service.

Mr. Frye is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-two years, Mary Elise Spears Frye; three children, Mary Linda Frye Blanchard, Charles David Frye, III, and Timothy Allen Frye; brother, Shepherd L. Frye; seven grandchildren, Ronda Anne Blanchard, Steven David Frye, Charles Edward Frye, Sarah JoEllen Frye McMillian, Timothy Allen Frye, Jr., Kathy Elise Blanchard Fowler, and Mary Elizabeth Blanchard; and four great-grandchildren, Jennifer Frye, Andrew Frye, Michael McMillian, and Madison Frye.
