

He was born August 4th,1942 in Brooklyn, New York as an only child to the late Pauline Schlumbohm Grouse and Charles J. Grouse.
Charlie was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Evelyn Wergeles Grouse. He is survived by his three sons: Charles “CJ” Grouse III (Kristy) of Huntersville, NC, Michael Grouse (Bonny) of Sarasota, FL and Christopher Grouse (Holly) of Charlotte, NC. He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren, Joseph, Danielle, John, Adam, Jadon, and Cathryn. Charlie is also survived by his brothers-in-law, their wives, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Charlie had a lengthy career in aerospace, originally working for Fairchild on Long Island, NY where he started as a clerk in the mailroom. The company later became Loral Corporation and then finally L3 Communications in Sarasota, Florida where he retired as the President of the Aviation Recorders Division. Charlie was awarded a United States Patent in June 2002 for his role in creating an adapter for an updated power supply for flight recorders. Charlie retired in 2000 and moved to North Carolina with Evy.
Charlie spent his retirement years playing in pool and poker leagues around Charlotte, where he won the World Tavern Poker Regional Championship in 2025, which earned him a seat in Las Vegas. Charlie was a loving father and grandfather who never missed an important event or game for one of his kids or grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday March 20, 2026, at 3:00 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 4:00pm at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC.
