Cynthia “Cindy” Freeman Dabestani, 68, of Charlotte, died peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Novant Presbyterian Main, after bravely battling pancreatic cancer and fighting with strength and grace until the end.
Mrs. Dabestani was a native of Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Louise Freeman.
Cindy was a gifted artist whose talent was recognized early in life. At just three years old, her grandmother began drawing with her and saw a special ability that Cindy would carry throughout her life. Her passion for art remained constant, and her work was displayed in galleries and local restaurants. She received an NC State award for a drawing that remained displayed in her high school for many years, a reflection of both her creativity and dedication.
More than her art, Cindy will be remembered for the way she loved her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother—known affectionately as “Cici.” Her grandchildren, Tayleb and Gemma, meant everything to her. She treasured caring for them as babies and toddlers, attending their games, and hosting special sleepovers that became cherished memories.
Cindy found joy in opening her home to others. She loved gathering family and friends, hosting holidays, and creating a place where everyone felt welcome. She lived with a quiet kindness, always treating others the way she would want to be treated.
Surviving are her husband, Ahmad Dabestani; her sons, Justin Dabestani and his wife, Stacey, and Jonathan Dabestani; her grandchildren, Tayleb and Gemma Dabestani; her sister, Sylvia Baumberger and her husband, Tom; her goddaughter, Yassi; her godson, Daveen; her dog, Sasha; her cat, Tiggy; and a number of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
The family would like to thank the caregivers and medical teams at Novant Presbyterian Main and Hospice as well as the many friends and family who supported her over the past three and a half years.
A service to celebrate Cindy’s life will be officiated by Pastor Rob Tartaglia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at https://pancan.org.
