David Russell Clere

Dave was born on October 24, 1953, in Port Clinton, Ohio, to Pauline and Amos Clere. He was also raised by his stepfather, Richard Wetzel Sr. Dave graduated from Genoa High School and spent his career working in construction.

Dave enjoyed designing and building, feeding wildlife, traveling, and cooking. He was a caring man who loved spending time with the people closest to him and sharing the little moments of everyday life.

Dave is survived by his wife, Jennifer Clere; his children Nicholas (Nicky) Clere, Danielle Clere, and Andrew (Katie) Clere; his stepdaughters Kimberly White and Nicole White; and his grandchildren Adam, Luna, Lucy, Everly, and Reed. He is also survived by his brothers Robert (Vicky) Clere and Dennis (Pamela) Clere; his stepsisters Judy Wetzel and Linda Avery; and his stepbrother John (Beverly) Wetzel. Dave was preceded in death by his son, Adam Clere; his brother, Steve Clere; Steve’s wife, Marsha Clere; and his nephew, Mike Clere.

In keeping with his caring spirit, Dave was a donor.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Dave and Jennifer’s home in Matthews, North Carolina. A second celebration will be held in Toledo, Ohio, with details to follow.
