David Horton Groseclose, 62, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on May 31, 2026, surrounded by the family he loved with unwavering devotion. Born on September 15, 1963, in Baltimore, MD, David grew up with a quiet strength and a steadfast sense of loyalty that would define his entire life. He graduated from McDonogh School in 1981 and from High Point University in 1985, where he was a proud member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity.
To those who knew him best, David was the embodiment of stoic calm, modesty, humility, loyalty, and meticulous care. He lived with intention, never seeking the spotlight, yet leaving an unmistakable mark on everyone fortunate enough to share his orbit.
David spent 38 dedicated years with Giant Food Corporation, where his work ethic and reliability earned the respect of colleagues across decades.
His passions were as wide‑ranging as they were heartfelt. He was an avid traveler and enthusiastic cruiser, happiest when exploring new corners of the world. A lifelong music lover, David attended more than 80 Bruce Springsteen concerts, a testament to his deep connection to the music that moved him. He loved golfing, Broadway shows, and cheering on the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles, Chelsea FC and Charlotte FC, and his favorite Formula One teams. A student of history—especially Civil War and WWII—he found great meaning in touring Gettysburg and reflecting on the past.
David will be remembered for his fierce loyalty to family and friends, his joy in attending every graduation and sporting event for his children, and his legendary love of pizza—always searching for the best slice wherever he happened to be. His curiosity, his steadiness, and his love of life’s experiences will remain a lasting gift to those he leaves behind.
David is survived by his devoted wife, Kelley Edison; his children, Nina Groseclose (Nicholas Brady), Barclay Groseclose, and Charlotte Groseclose; and his beloved grandson, Davison Michael Brady. He is also survived by his mother, Elizabeth Garfield; his brothers, James Donald Groseclose, Glenn (Kelly) Groseclose, and Steven (Jael Polnac) Groseclose; and his nieces and nephews—Megan, Austin, Evan, Henry, Gray, and Annabel—all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
He was predeceased by his father, James Donald Groseclose, Sr.
A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a time for sharing memories at 3:00 p.m., at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd., Mint Hill, NC 28227.
