Dennis Franklin Elwood, age 67, of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022.
Dennis was born in Charlotte on April 20, 1955 to the late Leroy Franklin Elwood and Margaret Ethel Dixon. Dennis attended Barringer Elementary School and graduated from Harding High School in 1974.
Dennis was a long distance trucker, graduating from Southern College Truck Driving School in 1989. He drove trucks until 2009 and enjoyed seeing new places and not staying in one place for too long.
Once retired, Dennis enjoyed playing chess online with people all over the world. At one time, he was ranked with United States Chess Federation.
A memorial service for Dennis will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 1:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, North Carolina 28227.
A donation to the charity of one's choice is requested in lieu of flowers.
