He was born in Charlotte, NC on October 3, 1953. Dennis graduated from West Charlotte High School and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering Technology from UNCC.
He was married to Barbara Underwood on April 23, 1988.
Dennis worked in structural engineering. He started his own business, Walter & Assoc., PLLC, on January 1, 1995. He was a member of Pine Lake Country Club, and had a passion for golf, woodworking, and was a general aviation pilot.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Barbara Underwood Walter; mother, Betty King Walter of Concord, NC; siblings, Franklin Walter (Tere) of Snellville, GA, Francine Walter Knox (David) of Savannah, GA, Christopher Walter (Lisa) of Huntersville, NC; six nephews, extended aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mr. Walter is preceded in death by his father, Lee Walter.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227 with a memorial service to follow in the chapel at 1:00 p.m.
