DF was born on January 4, 1931 in Okalona, Mississippi.
DF was a Scoutmaster for over 50 years. He, with the help of Doug Cornell and Raford Privette, started Troop 276 in 1961 with six boys meeting in the boiler room of Indian Trail Elementary school. After one year, the troop was able to move to the house where the Scout hut currently sits. During DF's time as Scoutmaster, the troop organized many fundraisers such as a haunted trail, selling raffle tickets for a pony, selling shotgun tickets, and tickets for their chicken barbeque.
DF lead the troop on hikes and to Jamboree's in Virginia and Washington D.C. The longest hike he took the scout troop on was 70 miles in New Mexico with 30 pound backpacks. He said, " That trip made boys into men and men into old men." DF made a small troop of six boys grow over the years to fifty plus.
DF is a former member of Hartis Grove Baptist Church and a current member of The Sanctuary in Indian Trail.
He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Jewel Presley; sister, Margaret Davis; Son, Wayne Presley: and daughter, Patricia Glenn.
DF is survived by son, Johnny Presley; five grandchildren, Mark Squires, Shannon Glenn, Jackie Maltis, David Presley, Crystal Presley; Seven great grandchildren and special friends, Karen (Carol) and Ron Taylor.
