Donald was known to most as caring and larger than life. His presence filled a room and left behind stories that will continue to be told. He was often selfless in his giving to others, and those who knew him will remember a natural magician—charismatic and quick with his bit of magic. In many ways, he danced through life, carrying charm and moments of joy, always moving to music.
Donald was born on April 27, 1957, in North Carolina, to the late Floyd Richard Deaton and the late Wilma Cooper Deaton.
He spent most of his life in the countryside with his partner, Vicki, and his son, Dillon. He spent much of his time with his many animals, including his two dogs, Bonnie and Clyde, and his large herd of more than twenty goats.
Donald was preceded in death by his brothers, Douglas Deaton, Richard Deaton, Cecil Deaton, Michael Deaton, and Kenneth Deaton, and his sisters, Betty Austin, Brenda Wilson, Deborah Deaton, and Joann Evans.
Survivors include his partner, Vicki; his son, Dillon; his brothers, Steve Deaton, Phil Deaton, and Tommy Deaton; his closest friend, Richard Jones; his beloved nephew, Ed Deaton; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and family from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, at McEwen Funeral Home in Mint Hill, North Carolina.
The family wishes to thank all who have reached out with love and support.
