

The Reverend Donald Kendall Welsh, of Charlotte, NC, died peacefully in Presbyterian Hospital on Wednesday, the 13th of March 2013. He was 80 years old. Born the 25th of October 1932 in Tacoma Park, MD, Don was one of three sons born to the late Donald Greer Welsh and Helen Kendall Welsh.
Don was ordained into the ministry at McCormick Theological Seminary in 1957. In 1958, he married Virginia Heirich. Don served congregations in VA, PA, OK, IA, KS and NC. Following retirement from the ministry, Don and his wife, Virginia, established a real estate appraisal business in Weddington, NC, where they lived. In 2006, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Welsh.
Don leaves behind four children, Carol Liane Collins and her husband, James, of Charlotte, Janet Lea Conrad and her husband, David, of Natick, MA, Donald Kendall Welsh, Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Monroe, and Charles Jonathan Welsh of Castle Rock, CO; and his two grandchildren, Tom and Vicky Conrad. He is also survived by his two brothers, James Greer Welsh of Staunton, VA and David Malcolm Welsh of Louisville, KY.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six until seven o’clock this evening, Friday, the 15th of March, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. The funeral service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 16th of March, at Matthews Presbyterian Church, 201 West John Street in Matthews. The Rev. Bill Pederson will officiate. The interment will follow in Marshville City Cemetery.
