Doris and my Mother, Pat Kiker, were "besties" long before cute nicknames for the best of friends became a thing.  I figured out pretty early in life that giving to others was and still is the essence of what love is all about, thanks to the constant demonstrations I received from my parents and from my Other Mother.  It's not just a single memory, although there are many, it is the long list of loving actions that I remember.  I have grieved the loss of both of my Moms, and celebrated the impact of their lives had on me and I am a better person for having known them.

My heart and prayers are for all of Doris' family.
