

Mr. Lyles, 87, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Carrington
Place in Matthews, North Carolina, after several years of failing
health. He was born December 10, 1925, in Miami, FL, to the late
Spencer Lyles and Ida Sullivan Lyles, the last of six children.
Ed was a member of the Blair Road United Methodist Church and
the Hannon Sunday School Class. He was a World War II veteran
who served in the US Army Air Corps. After retiring from a long
career with General Electric Company in Miami, FL, Mr. Lyles
relocated to the Charlotte area in 1992.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his five
brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Elsie
Karriker Lyles; sons Dennis Lyles and his wife Jacquelyn of Ft.
Lauderdale, FL, and Gary Lyles of Huntersville, NC; grandchildren
Melissa Lyles Smith and husband Derric of St Louis, MO, Michael
Lyles of Moscoutah, IL, and Sgt. Gregory Lyles, USMC, Cherry
Point, NC, and great granddaughters, Hailey and Adrianna Lyles.
A memorial service will be held at twelve noon, Thursday, March 7th, 2013,
at Blair Road United Methodist Church, 9135 Blair Road, Mint
Hill, NC 28227, with Rev. Lynn Upchurch and Rev. Johnny Lord
officiating. Immediately after the service, the family will receive
friends for a luncheon in the Clubhouse at the Polo Club Villas,
2727 Polo Club Boulevard, Matthews, NC 28105.
