Ella Grace Ingram McIlroy

Grace graduated from Pfeiffer College and continued her education at Presbyterian Nursing School in Charlotte, North Carolina. Upon completion of nursing school Grace married Dorsey McIlroy, on November 4, 1956. whom she had met at an event sponsored by the school of nursing.

The Lord blessed them with a wonderful marriage of over 60 years before Dorsey to passed away on September 6, 2016. While raising three daughters, Grace continued her career in nursing at Presbyterian Hospital. Grace was a wonderful nurse and very proud of her service at Presbyterian hospital where she served for over 35 years.

Grace was an avid gardener with an unprecedented green thumb. She was also an active member in the Wilson Grove Baptist Church as a choir member and a Sunday School teacher After Grace retired from nursing, she and Dorsey enjoyed traveling around the United States and visiting with their seven grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Dorsey Wilson McIlroy, her siblings Pasty Ingram Campbell, Moody Ingram and, Faith Ingram Maness. Surviving to carry on her legacy are, Susan (Dave) Headrick of Richmond, TX, Rebecca (Timothy) Brown of Mint Hill, NC; Lori (Tommy) Calhoun of Charlotte, NC; Grandchildren: Ryan Headrick (Denise), Jessica Dilley (Adam), Matthew Brown (Brianna), Benjamin Brown (Megan), Stephen Brown (Shelbi), Tommy and Phillip Calhoun and eight great grandchildren (Brooklyn, & Jaxon, Headrick, Camiia, Sebastian & Yuly Brown, Gracyn, Hayes, and Owen Dilley). Grace is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Wilson Grove Baptist Church, 6624 Wilgrove Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC, 28227. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary. Burial will take place in the Family Cemetery.
