Born March 8, 1928, in Scranton, PA, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Edgar and Ethel Cook. She worked for Northeast Jr. High School for 12 years and volunteered in the gift shop at Presbyterian Hospital Matthews for over 20 years. She was a member of Sardis Presbyterian Church.
Evelyn was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, John S. Castles, Sr. and her brother, William Cook.
She is survived by her four children, Cheryl Daley of Red Hook, NY, Gail Cobb and husband, Kent, of Waxhaw, NC, John Castles, Jr. of Charlotte, NC and Joyce Widener and husband, Randy, of Unionville, NC. She was also survived by her nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren whom she adored and cherished dearly.
A service to celebrate Evelyn’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel. The family will greet guests following the service.
