A native of Marion, South Carolina, Les was a son of the late Frank and Juanita Claud, and was a graduate of Marion High School. He retired as a top sales representative with Orders Tile and Distributing Company with 25 years of service. Following retirement, Les enjoyed caring for grieving families as a funeral service assistant with McEwen Funeral Service. He was a longtime member and past Deacon of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Les loved spending time at the beach and will be remembered as a wonderful husband, dad, and PapPap.
In addition to his parents, Les was preceded in death by his two brothers, Ted and Joe Jake; and his two sisters, Patsy Hunter and Betty Ann Austin.
Les is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Esterlene Claud; his four children, Debbie Dobkin, Pam Stenhouse and her husband, Richard, Frank Leslie Claud, III and his wife, Shari, and Jeff Claud and his wife, Nancy; three grandchildren, Brandon, Michael and Christopher Claud; and his six great-grandchildren, Will, Bree, Kinley, Chandler, Sawyer, and Joseph.
A visitation for Les will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church Harris Campus Chapel, 7200 East W.T. Harris Boulevard, Charlotte, North Carolina 28215, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm. Dr. John Harrill will officiate. Interment is private. For those are unable to attend in person, the funeral service will be livestreamed. See the link below.
