George James Allen Jr.

He was born on August 16, 1957 in Birmingham, Alabama to George James Allen, Sr. and Johnnie Lou Richburg Allen.

George had a 22 year career in Information Technology with IBM. Prior to that, he served his country in the Marine Corps. He loved children and adventuring in nature.

His family and friends will miss his bright smile and loving heart.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Johnnie Lou Richburg Allen and his brother, Gregory Dana Allen.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of 14 years, Angel Plumley Allen; children, Darrell Allen, Christie Allen and Kelvin Allen; grandchildren, Alyse and Landon Allen; father, George James Allen, Sr. (Ann); brothers, Marvin Allen, Julian Allen, Michael Allen (Catherine), Derrick Allen (Valerie), Dwayne Allen (Tamarra) and Kendale Allen; and his sisters, Maureena Arguelles (Ramon), Stephanie Hamlett (Kevin), Tanya Sanders (Reggie) and Keena Allen.

A memorial service will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 11th of August, 2016 at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227 with Reverend Carnell Thornton officiating.

A reception will be held immediately following the service at the funeral home.

A funeral and burial will be held in Birmingham, Alabama with details to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org., for the research of Prostate Cancer.
