Gerald Monroe Givens

Gerald was born in Atlanta, Georgia, the only son of the late, Beatrice Givens. He graduated from Atlanta Law School and served 6 years in the Air National Guard, followed by a long career in the insurance industry working with Maryland Casualty, the Hartford, Allied Assurance and Colonial Insurance.

He is survived by his loving children, daughter, Jennifer Poole and her husband, Ross, son, Joshua Givens and his wife, Stephanie, and a cherished grandson, Zachary Poole and his wife, Savannah. He is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends.

Gerald was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nancy and his grandson, Brandon Poole.

Gerald found Christ at a young age and was a regular member of Northside Baptist Church after setting down permanent roots in Charlotte until his health no longer allowed him to attend. His dedication to Christ remained unchanged. His family finds peace in knowing his injuries are no more and his days will be spent walking with his mother, wife, and grandson beside their Heavenly Father until his family is reunited again.

A graveside service celebrating Gerald’s life will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery and Memorial Gardens at 1520 W. Sugar Creek Road in Charlotte, NC on Saturday, June 27th, 2026 at

11:00 a.m.
