She was born in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Mary and Phillip Considine, and was the sister to Glen Considine of Niagara Falls, Phyllis Aderhold of Niagara Falls, Laurie Travis of Las Vegas NV, and the late Kenny Considine. She lived in Niagara Falls until 1983, and spoke often of her time in the Theta Xi Upsilon sorority there. Helen moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, shortly after her wedding.
During her 37 years living in Charlotte, Helen maintained an active social life. She always made sure to attend art club, Friday coffee club, and widows club after the passing of her husband. Helen enjoyed monthly ladies nights with longtime friends and former neighbors, a tradition since the 90s. Helen never met someone she couldn’t strike up a conversation with, forming friendships even at the register of her favorite thrift store.
A passionate green thumb, Helen will be remembered for her love of plants, flowers, birds, butterflies, and all things in the garden. Her favorite thing to do was paint bird houses, or the decorative garden stones that she passed out to visitors who came to see her. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of a cup of tea, or a phone call with her siblings, or finding a good bargain.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Aderhold; they were married for 40 years. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Aderhold and Katy Aderhold, both of Charlotte NC. Helen opened her home and her heart to so many people, and her family was much more than blood; it was a family of love. She will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Charlotte, NC 28227 on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A prayer service will take place at 11:00 am.
If you'd like, please donate to the Charlotte SPCA in Helen's name in lieu of flowers.
