Hollis Smith Jr.

Hollis E. (Buddy) Smith, Jr., 87, of Matthews, NC, passed away peacefully at Brookdale-Weddington Park on January 4, 2018. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Kat, and his parents, Hollis E. and Lucille Smith.

Buddy is survived by four sons, Glenn (Gail) of Monroe, Donnie (Bobbie) of Dothan, Alabama, Larry (Pam) of Matthews, and Todd (Teresa) of Indian Trail, and a sister, Pat Dennis of Monroe. He was also survived by nine grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Buddy was a passionate man who was always willing to help those in need. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Brookdale and Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region for their great care and service of our loved one.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 8, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, with a funeral service to immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Harrison Hinson will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
