

Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 1, 2017, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel. The Rev. Matt Broadway will officiate. Interment will follow in Robinson Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one and a half hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wallace was born December 23, 1927, in the Sharon Community of Mecklenburg County, Charlotte, North Carolina, daughter of the late Hillard Clyde and Martha Culp Sullivan. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Samuel Lloyd Wallace for 60 years before his death in 2009.
Mrs. Wallace was an active member of Robinson Presbyterian Church for many years. She served as President of the Women of the Church, Circle Chairman, Secretary-Treasurer of the Sunday School, Director of Vacation Bible School and was also a faithful member of the choir. In 1976, the Women of the Church presented her with an Honorary Life Membership. She later joined Dulin’s Grove Advent Christian Church.
In addition to her church activities, she served as secretary of Hickory Grove Elementary School PTA, a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Grade Mother.
Mrs. Wallace was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be deeply missed by all. She enjoyed gardening and loved cooking for her family and others. Many special family meals were enjoyed around Mom’s table. She was known for her sweet demeanor, giving spirit, and infectious sense of humor.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is now reunited in her eternal home with her pride and joy, her only grandson Christopher, who passed away in 2010. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Martha Faires and Rebecca Randall.
Mrs. Wallace is survived by her three children, Samuel Lloyd Wallace, Jr., Timothy Neal Wallace and wife, Laurie Baker Wallace of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Cornelia Hope Goodman and husband, Nelson of Midland, North Carolina; her sister, Sara Sullivan of Charlotte, North Carolina; her sister-in-law, Doris Lowery of Midland, North Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. A special thank you to her devoted caregivers, Rosaline Neal, Keisha Neal, and Sheila Harrison.
