James was a police officer for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department for 30 years and a former Marine, but his true passion was his farm in Ruby, SC. A true animal lover, he named all of his cows and had them trained to come running when they saw him. He had a tough as nails exterior but was a big teddy bear (especially with his daughter and grandsons).
He is survived by his daughter, Leigh Ann Hinson (Josh); his beloved grandson, Xander James; his bonus grandsons, Layne, Zakk, and Jack; and his brother, Bill (Nell).
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbert Theopolis Bruton, and mother, Thelma Hutchinson Bruton.
At his request, the family will honor his passing privately.
