James Maynard Huffines

Born February 23, 1939, Maynard lived a life marked by steady devotion, quiet strength, and a deep sense of responsibility to those he loved and the faith that guided him.

From an early age, Maynard showed a disciplined mind and a commitment to doing things well. He graduated Salutatorian of his class from Monticello High School, later earning his degree from East Carolina University, and continuing his education at the Raleigh School of Data Processing—an enduring reflection of his diligence and determination to keep learning.

Maynard was hardworking by nature, approaching life with a constancy that others could count on. In the roles he held and the responsibilities he carried, he brought perseverance and integrity—qualities that shaped the way he lived and the example he left behind.

Above all, Maynard cherished his family. He especially loved being a grandfather “to his favorite grandson,” a title that carried affection, pride, and joy.

A Christian since his teen years, Maynard’s faith remained a steady foundation throughout his life. He attended Hickory Grove Baptist Church from 1994 onward, finding in his church community a place of worship, fellowship, and enduring spiritual connection.

Maynard is survived by his wife, Patricia Huffines; his daughter Heather Webb (David); and his “favorite grandson”, Austin Webb. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fayette and Josie Huffines, as well as his brother Donald Huffines.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm on September 26, 2026, at Liberty Wesleyan Church, 15303 US-158, Summerfield, NC 27358.
