Jane Elizabeth Johnson Houston

Jane Elizabeth Houston, 59, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully on January 12, 2012. She was born August 25, 1952 in Atlanta, GA and was a Charlotte resident from the age of 15. Her parents were the late Samuel Dean Johnson, Sr. and Ruth Creech.

A member of Arlington Baptist Church, she was active in previous years, and was also a member of the Trellis Point Bible Class. She served with the Mecklenburg Board of Elections, and enjoyed the monthly support meetings with the Cancer Support Group of HGUMC. Jane bravely fought her battle with cancer, and worked to inspire and cheer others with her big smile and her ready laughter, and by hand making cross-stitch gifts for many. She was inspired by her faith in God, and by the special relationship she felt with the caring staff of Carolinas Cancer Care.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Houston; her mother, Ruth Creech; her sister, Cathy Johnson; and many other dear relatives. She will be greatly missed.

A service to celebrate Jane's life will be held on Monday, January 16, 2012 at Arlington Baptist Church, 9801 Arlington Church Rd. in Mint Hill. The family will greet friends at 2:00 p.m. with the memorial service following at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the 'Above and Beyond the Call Campaign' of Arlington Baptist Church, Mint Hill. Arrangements under the direction of McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel, Mint Hill, NC.
