Joan and I were friends for over 30 years.  I met Joan through Charlotte Woman's Club and we traveled to many Federation meetings, conventions, etc. sharing driving and rooms.  I learned about her early life in the South,her family, and her career as a concert pianist traveling all over Europe. She loved to work with the Arts Dept. securing student contestants for piano completion. Joan loved to volunteer and she did with many different organizations. I was able to get passes to the Opera, which she loved dearly.  Joan was a very special person and quite unique.  She will be missed.  She  has belonged to several Federated Women's Clubs including Matthews WC and Mooresville WC.

Joan was as wonderful friend who allowed me the privilege of escorting her to and from her car when she volunteered her services at CMPD Freedom Division. I will miss her dearly.

  Joan was a wonderful friend and a dedicated CMPD volunteer for many years.  Her positive attitude and service to others was an inspiration to all. She will be truly missed. Rest in peace Joan.

Years before Joan became fellow a CMPD volunteer, she & I were a musical collaboration.  She was such an enthusiastic pianist that once the piano began to move across the room while she played. We had quite a laugh over that.  She was a wonderful friend, I will miss her.

Miss Joan volunteered with the Pawn Shop Unit for many years. She faithfully and cheerfully performed any of the tasks assigned. We will miss her and her weekly visits.

"Joan was our very, very, close neighbor and friend and we loved her dearly. We as neighbors were  always there for one another in our times of need. She truly was a wonderful friend. She was more like a mother to me, we always loved and valued out time together. I and Harry are truly going to miss you Joan. Lil Bit is doing good but missing you too!!

Joan was so dedicated to attending her Sunday School Class and Church Worship, even though it took quite an effort for her to get there.  It was a joy to see her there every Sunday.  We also enjoyed helping her walk up the cobblestone street to the castle in Edinburgh, Scotland to watch the "Tattoo" program there, when we were on a WDAV trip to Scotland several years ago.  We will certainly miss her.

Joan was a lovely person and a great friend.  She enjoyed being active and helping people and was always ready to volunteer.  Her skill as a concert pianist translated to mad typing skills.  She was a great asset as a volunteer.  I am grateful for the time we knew each other and will miss my friend!

Joan was a beloved member of the Luther Snyder/Ruth Fisher Class of Myers Park United Methodist Church.  She will be greatly missed.  It was sad to see the first seat, front row of Sunday School empty these last two Sundays.  She was my friend and it was a privilege to help her and take her with me to church events.  Love and Blessings to Joan's family and wonderful neighbor Dottie.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time. CMPD is forever grateful for Joan's volunteering spirit to assist us over the years. Thank you for sharing her with us
