She has many nieces and nephews whom she loved all dearly. She loved being a maw maw, but the great grands were her heart.
JoAnn was born March 30, 1939, to the late Joseph and Evelyn Morrison in Walton, Kentucky. She graduated from Richmond Model High School in 1956. JoAnn was preceded in death by her son, David; sisters, Mary Sue, Sandy, and Karen; and brother, Wendy.
JoAnn began a career with IBM in Lexington, Kentucky and both Bill and JoAnn transferred with IBM to Charlotte in 1979, which she ultimately retired in 1994. She navigated through life with a passion to always help and serve others. After retirement, she worked as a teacher’s aide and Seniors helping Seniors and loved each of her new found friends she cared for….she became an extension of so many families.
JoAnn had a special love and unbreakable bond with friends Linda, Frankie and Annie. She loved good times with family and friends. If music was involved, she could always be seen on the dance floor and/or shoulder dancing.
JoAnn will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a feisty yet genuine woman who fought breast and colon cancer. Her legacy will run deep in many hearts.
A graveside service to celebrate JoAnn’s life will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, North Carolina, on Monday, January 27, 2025, with Chancee Carter officiating.
