John Junior Johnson

His family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Eastern Hills Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Born June 11, 1927 in Lakeland, FL, Mr. Johnson was a son of the late Thomas W. Johnson and Lessie Simmons Johnson. He was a U.S. Army, World War II veteran, and retired from Harris Teeter after 30 years of service. Mr. Johnson was a charter member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruby Johnson; daughter, Darlene Johnson Lancaster (Larry); son, David N. Johnson (Joyce); sister, Barbara Bass of Macon, GA; grandson, Chris Lancaster of Wilmington, NC; granddaughter, Amber McReynolds of Concord, NC; and four great-grandchildren, Cameron and Ciarra Lancaster, and Aidan and Garrison McReynolds.
