Born in Statesville, NC, Judy was the daughter of the late Bruce Renegar and the late Leeta Feimster Renegar. She graduated from Appalachian State University in 1969 and later earned her Master’s degree from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. She began her teaching career in Winston-Salem before going to J. T. Williams Middle School in Charlotte and later Independence High School, where she worked until she retired.
Judi loved teaching math and working with her students in the classroom and tutoring them after school. At Independence, she coached students for and accompanied them to state math contests. As department chair, she mentored many new teachers. She was active in many facets of Independence High School and especially liked working with the marshals. She was affiliated with the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
Judi never met a stranger. For several years, she helped deliver Friendship Trays. She loved lunches with a wide circle of friends, all things Christmas, snowmen, mystery novels, Sudoku, and animals, especially cats. She cherished Persimmon, Frosty, Midnight and Buttercup.
Judi is survived by cousins, close supportive friends, and good neighbors.
