Oh my - Jimmy, Ashley & Kevin - Leigh Anne just told us that she saw on Facebook that Kathie had passed away. Searching & found this. We are so sorry! We have thought about all of you so often and remembered all the special times our kids had together growing up. Such a shock to find this. I know the kids have grown and life is moving on but it's so nice to remember the times we had together being neighbors. Just know that we are thinking about you!

Dear family and friends of Kathie, At one time before Kathie and Jimmie were married, she was my roommate. She was a sweet, practical and loving person. You could talk to her about anything and she would always encourage you by reminding you that we serve a big GOD and He can handle anything and everything, especially when we feel we can't. She had such a positve outlook and caring heart. She will be greatly missed. I was so blessed to hear that in her last moments here she had a  grin on her face. What a blessing it must have been to see her smiling face as she  entered His presence. May you feel the arms of the Lord around you and His comfort and peace during this difficult time.

To the Jewell and Amburn families,  I didn't know Kathie, but know her cousin Donna Willis Wood loved her very much and spoke very highly of her.  Your families are in my thoughts and prayers.

I went to school with Kathie in MD and we both ended up here in NC. I never saw Kathie much but her daughter went to school with my niece and my sister Chris knew her here.I followed Kathie's battle thanks to Judie & Patsy. You have all always been in my prayers. Know that she is at peace because she fought long & hard and I always found myself inspired by her outlook & spirit. May God Bless you all and give you strength & comfort in your time of grief.  I met Kathie in Kindergarten and we were friends all through school. I moved away for many years and when I moved back and saw Kathie again we took up right where we had left off. I remember our birthday parties and later her cheerleader days and I am sure her enthusiasm will be honored in heaven.

I think I only met Kathie one or two times, but through Judie I have prayed for Kathie.  I am sorry for your loss, but know that she is probably dancing up a storm in Heaven.  Kathie touched many lives and I was honored to pray for such a neat lady!

I met Kathi at the Benjamin Moore paint store about 2 years ago. We were both fighting breast cancer, and found that we had the same doctor. I was so impressed by her positive outlook, and the energy in her presence. I talked to her once after that..I have had her on my mind lately, it is so uncanny that I found her death in the paper this morning. I know you will miss her, my prayers are with you as you face the days ahead without her. Dianne Mitzel

Kathie, I'm going to miss you so much. This hurts to the core.  You always amazed me but over these past few years, I have been awestruck by your acceptance and defiance of cancer- both at the same time.   You rose above it and refused to let it own your daily life. "It is what it is", you said, and then you moved on to live life.

I am so going to miss our random marathon phone conversations. Never will I forget the inspiration you've been to me.  And, I know you are loving being in His presence but I have to be honest with you, I wish you were here with us still- healthy, spunky and setting things straight.

Jimmie, Ashley and Kevin- be gentle with yourselves.   This is such a heavy blow.   Just remember to breathe and turn to the Lord for His comfort and peace.  I commit to praying for you throughout the coming year.  And remember, your wife/mother loved you more than anything on this planet- such a deep and profound love and that never dies.  It will be with you forever.

Kathie's devotion to her family and her quiet service to neighbors and friends was an example to me. As tiny and petite as she was, Kathie could really get things done, even in very high heels.   Kathie was one of the first people to call and offer her assistance when she heard that I had to undergo some minor treatments. I loved her sincerity and her genuine manner.  I will miss her.
