Kelly Grey Young

Kelly was born on February 16, 1961, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to parents, Olva Doris Mather and James Thomas Mather. She remained in Michigan throughout her childhood, graduated from Farmington High School and received her Bachelor's in Communications from Western Michigan University. After college, Kelly was a Latchkey Coordinator in Pinckney, Michigan for 10 years. In 2015, Kelly moved to Mint Hill. She continued her career at Marriott, Harris Teeter and Chick-Fil-A, where she worked until she became ill. Kelly made lasting friendships throughout her career and made a positive impact wherever she went.

The impact that Kelly has had on her family and community will never be forgotten. She was full of life and would light up any room she walked in. Friends of hers always felt her kindness and warmth. Kelly was a pillar of strength for her friends and family. She will always be remembered by her unwavering strength during the darkest of times. She not only had love for the important people in her life, Kelly also extended her love and kindness to animals.

Welcoming her to Heaven are her parents, Olva and James; and her brother, Steven Bruce Mather. She is survived by her son, James Young; her niece, Brittany Schmitt, and her son, Steven Schmitt; and niece, Erin Martin and her daughter, Logan Martin.

A celebration of Kelly's life will be held Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Old Sycamore Golf Plantation Club House, 7500 Olde Sycamore Drive, Charlotte, North Carolina 28227
